Dr. John E. Fagan

Dr. John E. Fagan served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War in the Medical Service Corps earning an honorable discharge in 1977. He attended the University of Nevada at both Las Vegas and Reno and was awarded with membership in the Phi Lambda Alpha Honor Society and granted the Jewett W. Adams Academic Excellence Scholarship. Dr. Fagan then attended Pacific University in Oregon obtaining his doctorate in optometry. While there, he was awarded the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society Research Design Award and worked in studies of nerve conduction of both the visual system and cognitive function. From these studies, he published four articles in the American Journal of Optometry and Physiological Optics.

Dr. Fagan has lived in Kern County since 1985 and currently has practices located in Bakersfield and Tehachapi. He has served in the Kern County Optometric Society as Secretary/Treasurer, Political Action Coordinator, Managed Care Committee Chairman, and President. He also served as a Quality Assurance Committee Member for the California Dental Health and Vision Care Plan.

Dr. Fagan has two children and enjoys riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, golf, racquetball, and studying history.

Dr. Dale A. Young

Dr. Young has over 30 years of experience in Optometry. He is a graduate of the Southern California College of Optometry having obtained his Doctorate degree in 1974. He also has a Masters Degree in Clinical Management from Pacific University and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. In his experience he has published two articles in professional journals.

Dr. Young is a retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel who spent 25 years treating armed forces personnel as well as being the Supervising Officer of the Air Force Optometric Technician Training Program. He is experienced in the treatment and management of ocular disease and takes time listening to patient concerns as well as providing detailed and thorough eye care.

Dr. Young has been married over 30 years and is the proud father of two children. He enjoys playing the guitar, speed walking and bicycling.
